Jimmy Dludlu was 13 when he took the guitar from a cousins house and began learning to play, imitating jazz and African music he listened to on the radio.
His first performances were in weddings with his cousin.
His career began in the mids, when he worked with several South African bands, including Impandze from Swaziland, with Jamaican singer Trevor Hall; Botswanas Kalahari and Satari; as well as Anansi with Ghanaian saxophonist George Lee.
At that time, Jimmy excelled through his performance with Anansi at the Independence Day celebrations in Botswana alongside a number of African stars including Thomas Mapfumo. (more)
